Government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are now required to provide advance notice to the Federal Housing Finance Agency before offering new products.

According to the FHFA’s Q3 2022 Foreclosure Prevention and Refinance Report, the Enterprises completed 69,362 foreclosure prevention actions within the quarter, helping troubled homeowners nationwide to stay in their homes.

The FHFA recently published its Q3 2022 data for the Uniform Appraisal Data Aggregate Statistics Data File. The agency also launched the new UAD Aggregate Statistics Top 100 Metro Areas Dashboard, which displays the statistics through customized maps and charts.

A recent announcement revealed HUD, through the Federal Housing Administration, will allow private flood insurance policies on insured single-family mortgages in special flood hazard areas.

Pursuant to the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, the FHFA has released its annual report on single-family guarantee fees charged by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

According to the 2019 Survey of Consumer Finances conducted by the Federal Reserve, on average white families held just under a million dollars in accumulated wealth, while Black and Latino families had about $150,000 in wealth.

“As home valuations are a vital component of the mortgage process, publishing transparent, aggregate data on appraisals provides useful information to the public while protecting borrowers’ personally identifiable information,” said FHFA Director Sandra L. Thompson.

“Today's decision will benefit borrowers and the Enterprises, along with maintaining safety and soundness," said Sandra L. Thompson, Director of the FHFA.

The FHFA's foreclosure analysis for July 2022 revealed the total number of loans in forbearance is trending downward from its peak in May, with nearly 85,000 loans in forbearance nationwide, while total refinance volume and mortgage rates also decreased in the same month.
