Fannie Mae Exec on Mortgage Servicing’s Digital Future

Technology moves fast, and the servicing industry still has some catching up to do. Varma Penmatsa, VP-Digital Products, Fannie Mae, spoke with DS News about how innovation in the digital space is impacting mortgage servicing, as well as the challenges in implementing new technologies alongside legacy systems.

"There is still a dependence on legacy frameworks," Penmatsa said. "The way we solve that challenge is really cultural. How are we influencing the culture of the company and their associates to be able to have innovative mindsets?"
