New Sales Leader at Fifth Third to Aid in Community Commitment

FifthThird_John AdamFifth Third Bancorp announced John Adam will join Fifth Third Mortgage as National Sales Leader and will aid in the company’s community commitment.

In his new role, Adam will lead Fifth Third’s team of more than 400 mortgage lenders across the nation.

Ed Robinson, President of Fifth Third Mortgage “recruited Adam for his strong leadership with mortgage loan officers through talent acquisition and retention, and to help lead the team in achieving the Bank’s $30 billion Community Commitment,” according to the bank.

With 25 years of sales management and business development experience, Adam comes to Fifth Third Mortgage from Stearns Lending, where he served as EVP.

Previously, Adam served as SVP and divisional sales executive at Bank of America.

“John’s emphasis on helping inspire our mortgage team and growing our mortgage sales force will help create the best experience for our customers and build stronger communities,” Robinson said.

Robinson also stated, “John has an established record of leading teams through change—in both bank and non-bank lenders across the mortgage industry. We’re excited for him to lead our strong and growing national team.”

Fifth Third Mortgage made a five-year community commitment with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Fifth Third aims to positively impact communities through mortgage lending, small business lending, community development loans, and investments, according to the company.

Last year, Fifth Third completed 17,000 home purchase loans and created a down payment assistance program for borrowers with private mortgage insurance. Fifth Third offers eligible borrowers up to 3 percent of the purchase price, or up to $3,600.

Adam will contribute to these efforts by developing community partnerships, spreading awareness of the commitment, and through loan originations.

“John brings deep industry expertise and has a strong track record of motivating and managing sales teams, said Phil McHugh, head of the Consumer Bank for Fifth Third. “John’s diversity of experiences in start-up operations and established divisions within companies will be a strong asset to Fifth Third.”
