Five Star and Ten-X Partner to Provide Homes to Veterans

HomeThe Five Star Institute President and CEO Ed Delgado announced Thursday at the 2016 Five Star Government Forum in Washington, D.C., that the Institute would be partnering with the nation's leading online real estate marketplace, Irvine, California-based Ten-X (formerly Auction.com), to donate $50,000 to Operation Homefront, a national non-profit organization that provides mortgage-free homes to veterans.

Five Star has partnered with various non-profit organizations over the last five years to provide approximately $4 million worth of homes to service members.

“The Five Star Institute remains committed to supporting our military members and their families. We are honored to stand behind a cause that does so much to help our nation’s heroes,” Delgado said. "This home presentation to veterans program is part of our ongoing mission to raise awareness of the needs of our veterans to obtain housing. We are humbled by the immense level of dedication shown by Auction.com and Operation Homefront in helping us fulfill this mission."

The partnership between Five Star, Auction.com, and Operation Homefront was announced in March at last year’s Five Star Government Forum in Washington, D.C., when Auction.com donated $50,000 to the home donation program and another $50,000 on at the 2015 Five Star Conference.

This donation brings Ten-X’s total contribution to Operation Homefront over the last two years to $150,000. The check will be presented by Ten-X EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Rick Sharga.

“We are proud to support an organization that does so much to help our veterans. We are excited to help fulfill their mission, and to be able to help our military heroes and their families” Sharga stated.

Operation Homefront, which is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, has helped thousands of service members and their families with emergency and other financial assistance since it was founded in 2002. Currently, more than 2,500 volunteers nationwide assist Operation Homefront with this effort.

“We are very grateful to receive this generous donation from Ten-X and to be working with our amazing friends from the Five Star Institute again this year.  Both partners share our passion for and are dedicated to our mission to build strong, stable and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.” said John Pray, Operation Homefront CEO.

Editor's note: The Five Star Institute is the parent company of DS News and DSNews.com.
