California-based online real estate marketplace Auction.com has named Bin Xu as VP of engineering for the company's Silicon Valley office, according to an announcement from Auction.com.

Xu's 20 years of experience in leading projects from inception to live operation include serving as VP of engineering for Acxiom Corporation (overseeing platform engineering) and Angie's List (overseeing member-facing products, experience development, quality assurance, and related technical operations).

In his new role with Auction.com, Xu will lead the company's database and platform engineering teams. He will also oversee the technical aspects of the company's auction control center and bidder communications.

"I am thrilled to be working with a world-class engineering team to deliver scalable, performing software and services that will continue to enable transparent, simple and trustworthy online real estate transactions," Xu said.

Xu has a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Zhejiang University in China, a master's degree in computer science from the University of Wyoming, and a Ph.D. in engineering from Cornell University. In addition to his positions with Acxiom and Angie's List, Xu has lent his software expertise to technology companies such as Huawei Technologies, Magnet Systems, Odesk, WebEx Communications prior to its acquisitions by Cisco, and several others.

"Auction.com remains the top online real estate marketplace because we are constantly refining and enhancing our platform to ensure the best possible user experience and exceed the expectations of buyers and sellers," Auction.com Chief Technology Officer Ravi Keswani said. "Having Bin’s energy and ability at the helm of Auction.com’s engineering teams will ensure our products continue to shape how the real estate industry does business."
