Mary Cocheu has been named Director of Operations for Non-Legal Affairs for Codilis & Stawiarski (C&S), according to an announcement from the company. Cocheu has been involved in the mortgage banking industry for more than 24 years.

“We are excited to have Mary join our firm.  She brings additional experience and perspective to C&S and a broad background including foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction and REO.  Her skills, abilities, and knowledge will compliment our existing management team, helping C&S take the next step as the premier firm serving the mortgage industry in Texas,” says Ernie Codilis, owner and partner of the firm.

Cocheu started her career in 1992 working at GE Capital for six years in various capacities within the default area. She later moved to Equivantage while assisting GE with its transition of servicing functions from Houston, Texas, to San Bernardino, California. In 1999, she moved to BankUnited and worked as a supervisor in the foreclosure department.

Cocheu transitioned from servicer to the attorney platform in 2001 when she joined a Texas-based creditors’ rights law firm where she worked in developing the firm’s default and operational procedures and its proprietary default case management system. Additionally, she also assisted with the company’s merger in 2009.

Her most recent role was with a similar firm where she developed default and operational procedures for attorney offices in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas, as well as oversaw the training of employees in client/investor directives, firm guidelines, and changes within the mortgage industry during the last five years.

“At Codilis & Stawiarski, as a member of the senior management team, I will be working closely with the staff to facilitate process improvements and troubleshoot issues as well as collaborate with and mentor direct reports,” says Cocheu. “I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of several facets of the mortgage industry and have learned and grown from each experience. I am excited to be able to share this knowledge and be a part of a wonderful firm and the great team of people at Codilis & Stawiarski.”
