Irvine, California-based online real estate marketplace Auction.com has announced the hiring of former eBay executive Kristine Chin as VP of customer engagement.

The duties of the newly-created role of VP of consumer engagement involve spearheading a cohesive, comprehensive, company-wide effort to help Auction.com employees understand the company's customers raise awareness of their needs both now and for the future. Chin will report to Auction.com CEO Tim Morse.

"Becoming a more customer-centric company is crucial to our long-term success and a foundational philosophy that we are very serious about," Morse said. "Tapping into Kristine's experience, we look forward to developing new programs, processes and products that allow us to engage with our customers in even more meaningful ways."

Chin has a BA from UC Berkley and an MBA from Harvard. She previously worked at eBay for 12 years, where her positions included senior product manager supporting eBay's largest sellers, general manager of eBay Motors, and head of eBay's North American Partner & Strategy Operations. While at eBay, she created systems and processes that helped sellers get started and scale quickly and developed expertise working with buyers and analyzing transactional data to optimize the user experience and sell-through rate, according to Auction.com. In 2014, she was awarded a patent for features to display inventory to the right buyer and has filed four other related patents that match sellers and products with interested buyers.

"Tapping into Kristine's experience, we look forward to developing new programs, processes and products that allow us to engage with our customers in even more meaningful ways."

"I'm thrilled to come on board and help Auction.com disrupt the commercial and residential real estate markets," Chin said. "We have an opportunity to provide real estate buyers, sellers and the real estate professionals they work with an enhanced transaction experience that is simple, transparent, effective and approachable."
