[1]Participants in the Investment Lab [2] at the 2014 Five Star Conference and Expo [3] on September 16 will have a chance to hear industry professionals speak on all aspects of investing, from bridge lending to government investment opportunities.
Many experts will be on hand to offer their knowledge on such topics as investment hot spots, investment in real estate, overcoming the challenges facing the investment industry, the REO-to-rental market, how rising home prices and the declining number of foreclosures is affecting the investment market, using market factors to determine the best investment opportunities, and much more in the three and a half hour lab.
The director of the lab will be David Tobin, a principal at one of the industry's most respected loan sale advisory firms, Mission Capital Advisors [4]. Tobin has extensive experience in loan sale advisory transactions, having closed more than $6 billion in sales as the head of a loan sale advisory business from 1994 to 2002. That experience, combined with Tobin's expertise in investment banking, commercial real estate debt, and equity raising, make him well-qualified to be the director of the Five Star Conference and Expo's inaugural Investment Lab.
"The Investment Lab will help participants understand REO investment opportunities," Tobin said. "We will discuss where geographically and demographically to focus, how to raise short term and long term capital, how REO investments are managed, the REO-to-Rental phenomenon and other topical issues. The presentation will be a mix of single presenters, TED style talks and panel debates and as moderator."
The "Ted style" format that Tobin refers to is the innovative, conversational presentation style that has swept the nation, made popular by Ted.com which will be a feature of this year's conference.
The Investment Lab will take place on the third and final day of the conference, which will be Tuesday, September 16.
