Auction.com Adds Retired Exec to Board of Directors

Kevin Johnson [1]Retired Juniper Networks CEO and former Microsoft executive Kevin Johnson has joined the board of directors at Auction.com [2], the country's top online real estate marketplace.

Johnson has previously served on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations as well as serving as director for the board of Starbucks Coffee Company. He is widely recognized for his leadership skills and vision.

“Kevin understands what it takes to be both an industry and a technology leader, something that is key to Auction.com as we harness the power of the Internet to change the way real estate is transacted,” said Jeff Frieden, CEO and co-founder of Auction.com.

Immediately prior to coming to Auction.com, Johnson was the CEO and a member of the board of directors for Juniper Networks for more than five years before retiring in January 2014. The company's revenue expanded from $2.8 billion in 2007 to $4.6 billion in 2013 under Johnson's leadership. His positions with Microsoft included vice president of worldwide sales and president of the platforms division. Then-President George W. Bush appointed Johnson to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee in 2008, and he continued in that position under President Barack Obama until 2013.

"Auction.com has been successful in moving real estate transactions online, effectively leveraging technology to challenge traditional methods of doing business," Johnson said. "I’m excited to work with this company as it continues to prove to buyers, sellers and the entire real estate industry the benefits of an open, interactive marketplace."
