Auction.com Hires New SVP of Commercial Real Estate Finance

Auction.com, a leading national online real estate marketplace headquartered in Irvine, California, has announced the hiring of Sharmila Patel as SVP of commercial real estate finance and operations.

Patel brings more than two decades of financial leadership and executive experience working in such industries as financial services, healthcare, and technology. The position of SVP of commercial real estate finance was created as the company attempts to grow amid a rapidly evolving commercial real estate landscape; Patel's focus will be on maintaining optimal alighnemnt between the strategic and operational sides of Auction.com's business.

“Sharmila is a well-versed technology finance and operations professional who brings valued experience working effectively with cross-functional groups,” said Gordon Smith, general manager of Auction.com’s commercial real estate division. “We are very pleased to have her on board as her presence on a multitude of Auction.com operational teams will provide the type of leadership necessary to pace our business for continued success.”

Patel most recently worked at Inform Media Group prior to joining Auction.com, where she was the SVP of finance and served as the strategic finance partner to the CEO. Prior to that, Patel served as chief financial officer and treasurer for online marketing platform Reply!; in that role, she developed operational planning, forecasts, and budgets as a strategic partner to the CEO and board of directors. Patel also worked at Yahoo! For three years where she served as VP of global technology finance, developing long-term financial planning and forecasting.
