Bob Ehrlich Joins NewDay USA Board of Advisors

The Maryland-based mortgage lender, NewDay USA, has announced that former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich has joined the company's Board of Advisors.

“Our advisory board plays an active role in support of our steadfast mission of helping veterans and their families achieve the American dream of homeownership and the financial security they deserve,” said Rob Posner, CEO of NewDay USA. “Governor Ehrlich’s understanding of the legislative and regulatory process, as well as his executive leadership as governor, make him an outstanding addition to our distinguished board and to NewDay’s mission of serving veteran families.”

As governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007, Ehrlich served on the Maryland Veterans Home Commission and helped create the first cabinet-level Department of Disabilities in the country, for which he earned the Highest Recognition Award from the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Gov. Ehrlich also managed the most successful military base realignment and closure strategy in the country.

Prior to serving as governor, Ehrlich served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a congressman, he co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to improve benefits for veterans and their families, including the Military Survivor Benefits Improvement Act of 2002 and the American Dream Down Payment Act.

Ehrlich is currently a partner and senior counsel in the government advocacy practice at the international law firm of King & Spalding.

“I wholeheartedly support NewDay USA’s ongoing mission to help veterans, active duty military service members and their families achieve their financial goals through homeownership,” said Ehrlich. “Too often, after sacrificing everything they had in order to protect our freedoms, veterans and servicemembers have struggled to fulfill the American Dream. I look forward to working with NewDay USA’s board and the executive team to create new ways to help our underserved veteran community.”

The NewDay USA board of advisors includes Rear Admiral Thomas C. Lynch (USN, Ret.), Hon. R. James Nicholson, General James L. Jones (USMC, Ret.), Hon. Joseph J. Murin, Walter Rolph, Gary Ort, Rajshree Agarwal, and David Loeser. Ehrlich is joining as the ninth member of the board.
