USFN Hosts First Loan Management & Servicing Seminar of the Year

""USFN, America's Mortgage Banking Attorneys"":http://www.usfn.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Home, recently hosted its first Loan Management & Servicing Seminar of 2010. Close to 400 attendees gathered at the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas hotel in Dallas March 17-19 to participate in the event.

The seminar featured more than 20 informative sessions, open roundtable discussions, and timely forums that covered increasingly hot topics in the industry. In addition, the first-ever Default Servicing 101 Super Session was launched on the first day of the event. The session, geared towards those new to the industry or transitioning into new roles in default servicing, was highly attended by more than 80 servicers.

Sessions focused around mediation, the Home Affordable Modification Program, and eviction practices proved to be the most popular. In addition, attendees expressed curiosity as to how the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives (HAFA) program will impact their business in the months to come.

As legislation continues to evolve and the nation faces increasing defaults and foreclosures, attendees were particularly interested in learning how to best react and respond to challenging files and cases. Efficiently and properly navigating the changing servicing landscape was discussed in each session, and as usual, additional sessions that were in high demand covered federal and state legislative updates, as well as REO and bankruptcy practices.

""While we may not know exactly what the industry will face in the year ahead, we can be confident that no matter what the obstacles, we will be able to face them head on,"" said Rich Rothfuss, president of USFN. ""Luckily, through the dedication and collaboration of many USFN members, associate members, and leaders in the servicing realm, we are able to collaborate and address the ever-adapting policies affecting our industry.""

The seminar wasn't all sessions and roundtables, though. To kick off the 3-day event, USFN continued its charitable initiatives with a project at the North Texas Food on the morning of March 17th. Approximately 50 conference attendees participated in the community outreach project.

""Being able to assist the North Texas Food Bank was a rewarding experience for all those who participated,"" said Alberta Hultman, executive director and CEO of USFN. ""I am continuously encouraged by the spirit and dedication of the mortgage servicing community and USFN members to support those in need.""

USFN's ongoing seminar series continues in 2010 with its second Loan Management & Servicing Seminar, which will be held June 9-11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
