Chairing the 2014 board is E.J. Burke, EVP and group head of KeyBank Real Estate Capital, a nationwide commercial real estate lender and servicer based in Cleveland, Ohio. Burke recently served as chairman of MBA's Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors and has been a member of the association's board.

Before taking responsibility for KeyBank's Real Estate Capital line of business, he served as head of real estate capital markets and was also managing director for the firm's Commercial Mortgage Division. Before that, he was president and a founding member of National Realty Funding, LC, based in Kansas City.

""It is truly an honor to serve as Chairman of MBA during its 100th year,"" Burke said. ""The entire industry is undergoing historic change, and my goal is to ensure that MBA, and its members are aligned, doing the right things to ensure that, as these changes take place, we don't lose sight of what is best for our customers, and for the larger economy and communities that we serve.""

Joining Burke in leading the board are Bill Cosgrove, CMB, president and CEO of Union Home Mortgage Co., and Bill Emerson, CEO of Quicken Loans. Cosgrove and Emerson were sworn in as chairman-elect and vice chairman, respectively.

He has also served as chairman of MBA's GSE Repurchase Request Task Force and was co-chairman of the Loan Originator Qualification Task Force in addition to being president of the Ohio MBA.

Cosgrove was named president of Union Home Mortgage (then known as Union National Mortgage Co.) in 1997, only three years after joining the company. He purchased the firm in 1999.

In 2011, he was the recipient of MBA's Burton C. Wood Legislative Service Award, which is given annually to an MBA member in recognition of his or her ""sustained superior service to the association and the real-estate finance industry as a whole.""

The new vice chairman, Emerson, is a member of MBA's GSE Single Family Task Force. In the past, he has served on the group's board of directors, its SAFE Advisory Task Force, and its Repurchase Work Group. He was also vice chair of MBA's Residential Board of Governors.

Having joined Quicken Loans in 1993 as a mortgage banker, Emerson was given the opportunity to run several business units as well as lead mortgage operations for the company before his eventual promotion to CEO in 2002.

Outside of Quicken, he is a member of the board of directors of Xenith, Inc., a football helmet company dedicated to advancing safety; the Detroit Economic Club; and the Detroit Parade Company. He has also been the recipient of the ALS Association's Iron Horse Award and the Salvation Army's William Booth Award, its highest honor.

Also new to the board are Rick Aneshanel (U.S. Bank Home Mortgage); Barrett Burns (VantageScore Solutions); C. William Griffin (Lender Processing Services); Jerome Lienhard (SunTrust Mortgage); Anand Nallathambi (CoreLogic); and Kevin Watters (JPMorgan Chase).

""I am honored to be working alongside these fine men and women who make up MBA's influential and experienced Board of Directors,"" Burke said. ""These members will be diligent in their efforts to help create policy for the real estate finance industry in a way that firmly places the best interests of borrowers at the forefront.""
