According to a press release, ""Military Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals"":http://mvarep.org/ (MVAREP) was formed to ""level the playing field"" for military veterans trying to buy homes with a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) loan.

In many cases, VA appraisers are brought in to insure the loan and make sure the purchase is a good investment for the buyer. This process sometimes throws off listing agents and sellers who want to take an easier route.

MVAREP founder Dave Dion got the idea to start the organization when his own efforts to purchase a home were hindered because of the complex process.

""It takes so many people to help with a real estate transaction, it's hard to know all the aspects and people to trust, and now our military veterans can find third party professionals to help them make their housing dreams come true,"" Dion said.

In addition to having blog posts and news links for VA news, MVAREP's website also hosts a forum for members to discuss real estate issues relevant to veterans.

The organization is made up of real estate agents, lenders, title and escrow, home inspectors, appraisers, active and veteran service members, and the National Guard. Non-military professionals seeking to partner with the veteran community are also welcome to join. Membership is free.
