U.S. District Judge Henry Lee Adams Jr. in the Middle District of Florida handed the sentence to Lorraine Brown, who also served as an executive of Lender Processing Services Inc. (LPS). DocX was a former subsidiary of LPS before closing in 2010.

Brown first pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in November 2012. In addition to her prison sentence, she was also ordered to pay $15,000.

DocX once served the mortgage servicing industry by assisting in creating and executing mortgage-related documents. While only specific employees at DocX were authorized by clients to sign certain mortgage-related documents, unauthorized employees--under the direction of Brown and others--signed documents using the signatures of authorized personnel, according to the Justice Department.
