Freddie Mac Warns Servicers of Suspicious Invoices

""Freddie Mac"":http://www.freddiemac.com/ issued a noticed of potentially fraudulent invoices in a bulletin to sellers and servicers on Monday.

According to the notice, several Freddie Mac sellers and services reported the receipt of invoices from ""FMFM Agency"" or ""Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Regulatory Agency."" The invoices bill the recipient for ""DO/LP Agency Access Fees"" and ""Correspondent Agency Lender Access Fees"".

The notice said the invoices are not from Freddie Mac and are likely fraudulent.

In the cases Freddie Mac identified, the invoices included names of aggregators the customer may be doing business with to seem more legitimate, the notice stated. Freddie Mac said the accounts payable department should be made aware of the situation.

Organizations that have received a suspicious invoice should contact the Financial Fraud Investigation Unit at [email protected] and provide a copy of the invoice.
