CoreLogic looked at seven major metro areas along the Gulf Coast that could be at risk and found the at-risk properties are valued at more than $27.7 billion.

As of late Tuesday morning, the National Hurricane Center ""categorized Isaac"":http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCUAT4+shtml/281618.shtml as a hurricane rather than a tropical storm.

CoreLogic explained its analysis only measures damage from storm surge and not potential damage from wind and rain associated with hurricanes.
