This was the first time that a property preservation company or member of the mortgage industry has sponsored code enforcement officers to attend the conference.

Safeguard is a longstanding partner and supporter of AACE. Company representatives have participated as speakers at the annual conference and collaborate with AACE to provide free Web-based training to code enforcement officials with regard to the shared mission of property preservation and maintenance of neighborhoods across the United States.

""Our goal in offering these scholarships is to bring more code enforcement, building, and housing officials into the dialogue, especially from municipalities that might not have the budgets or resources to send representatives otherwise,"" said Michael Halpern, director of community initiatives for Safeguard. ""At the same time, we are committed to working together with AACE to make the organization stronger by ensuring viability through continued growth.""

Founded in 1990 and based in Valley View, Ohio, Safeguard Properties inspects and maintains defaulted and foreclosed properties for mortgage service companies, lenders, investors, and other financial institutions.
