The Governance Committee is responsible for administering the day-to-day standards development activities of MISMO-the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization, which is a nonprofit subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). The Committee is also responsible for promoting adoption of MISMO standards, leading educational initiatives, and developing strategic partnerships with other standards organizations.

Lira has been involved with MISMO since 2001. He has served as co-chair of its e-Mortgage Workgroup since 2008; belongs to its Organization and Marketing sub-committees; and is an active participant of its Architecture Workgroup.

Lira has been a key contributor to the development of the MISMO Version 3 data standards which, among other benefits, consolidate all previous electronic document structures into a single, comprehensive specification that can be used for all transactions across all mortgage process areas. Lira plans to continue to work with all of these groups while serving his term on the Governance Committee.

According to Lira, Wolters Kluwer Financial Services has been supportive of his involvement with MISMO since he first joined the organization in 2001. ""They realize, like I do, that my work in helping to develop and maintain MISMO standards and further the eMortgage initiative benefits our customers and the entire industry,"" Lira said.

""We are extremely proud of Abdias' contributions to MISMO because we've seen the direct impact they've made in helping lenders increase both operational efficiencies and productivity,"" said Jason Marx, VP and general manager of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services' residential and indirect lending businesses. ""His forward-thinking and hard-driving efforts with MISMO typify the subject matter expertise behind all of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services' solutions and services.""

During his 26-year career as an information technology professional, Lira has earned several honors, awards, and patents. In 2008, he was presented with MISMO's Staff Appreciation Award, one of only two such honors the organization bestows on its members each year.

Lira holds a master's degree in software engineering, a bachelor's degree in information technology administration, and a professional certificate in software product lines from the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
