New Hampshire Foreclosure Deeds Fall

The number of foreclosure deeds in New Hampshire fell in March, suggesting that New Hampshire's long term foreclosure outlook will continue to improve, according to the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority (NHHFA). The foreclosure activity in the first quarter of 2014 was below that of every year since 2007, and is 21 percent below last year's first quarter.

48,000 Foreclosures Completed in March

CoreLogic's latest National Foreclosure Report, utilizing data through March 2014, found that foreclosure inventory is down 5.1 percent from February. The percentage of homes seriously delinquent on their mortgages fell as well to 4.7 percent, the first time the seriously delinquent rate has been this low since October 2008.

Q1 Foreclosure Activity Fueled by New Starts and Auctions

A rise in foreclosure starts and auctions caused an increase in U.S. foreclosure activity in March, up 4.0 percent from the previous month. The U.S. Foreclosure Market Report released by RealtyTrac reported approximately 117,000 foreclosure filings for the month, down 23 percent from March, 2013.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) released a report Thursday, highlighting the performance of first-lien mortgages serviced by large national and federal banks continued to improve in the fourth quarter of 2013. The OCC Mortgage Metrics Report for the Fourth Quarter of 2013 found 91.8 percent of mortgages were currently performing, up slightly from 91.4 percent in Q3 2013.

Foreclosure Inventory Down by More than Half a Million

The number of loans in foreclosure has dropped by more than 500,000 since last year, according to Black Knight Financial Services (BKFS) "First Look" Report focused on February mortgage data. The Data and Analytics Division of BKFS found that foreclosure inventory stood at 1.24 million as of the end of February, 2014.
