HOPE LoanPort, a proprietary, Web-based tool used by non-profit housing counselors, housing finance agencies, investors, and major mortgage servicers, recently added North Dakota to its roster, making it live in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The nonprofit organization, which recently completed its first full year of operation, allows housing counselors to submit an application, including the upload of homeowner documents, for home retention in a secure environment.

HOPE LoanPort (HLP), a Web-based tool that streamlines home retention applications on behalf of borrowers at risk of foreclosure, recently welcomed nonprofit counseling agencies in Alaska and Kansas to its system. Used by housing counselors, housing finance agencies, investors, and major mortgage servicers, HLP now assists struggling homeowners in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

The California-based NID Housing Counseling Agency now requires its counselors to use HOPE LoanPort as the primary tool for submitting home retention applications to mortgage servicers. HOPE LoanPort, developed by the HOPE NOW Alliance, is a Web-based tool that streamlines home retention applications on behalf of borrowers at risk of foreclosure.

HomeFree-USA recently revealed its success in assisting struggling homeowners by using HOPE LoanPort, a Web-based system to submit home retention applications to mortgage servicers. HomeFree-USA, which oversees a network of 65 housing counseling agencies, endorses the HOPE LoanPort system for eliminating lost paperwork and reducing decision times on loan modification applications.

HOPE LoanPort, a Web-based tool developed by HOPE NOW that streamlines loan modification applications on behalf of homeowners at-risk of foreclosure, and the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) will collaborate to promote fair housing for borrowers facing foreclosure. Through training and outreach focused on ending discrimination, the organizations hope to preserve homeownership in under-served communities.

There has been no shortage of reports of state attorneys general seeking accountability from servicers that they allege mishandled foreclosures. Now it's being reported that attorneys general in all 50 states are near to reaching settlements with the nation's top five mortgage servicers, including Bank of America and GMAC Mortgage. The states are looking to develop separate agreements, rather than one encompassing settlement; and they plan to pursue a civil investigation rather than a criminal one.

The online loan modification Web portal HOPE LoanPort announced Tuesday that it received a $100,000 grant from Chase Bank to help facilitate mortgage modifications. The Washington, D.C.-based company, developed by the HOPE NOW alliance, is a Web-based instrument that helps simplify the mortgage modification process by allowing HUD-approved housing counselors to collect and then upload modification documents directly to the mortgage servicers and track the applications.

Wells Fargo, one of the nation's largest mortgage servicers, has agreed to use HOPE LoanPort's proprietary technology to partner with nonprofit housing counselors to assist homeowners with loan modifications. Wells is the 13th major servicer to sign onto the Web-based tool, which allows borrowers and counselors to streamline their submission of loan mod applications. HOPE LoanPort also has commitments from more than 1,600 housing counselors from almost 300 organizations across the country.

Mortgage insurer Radian Guaranty Inc. has made a $200,000 grant to HOPE LoanPort to be used by borrowers, non-profit counselors, servicers, and other organizations to improve the execution of loss mitigation activities, including those under the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). Radian's contribution will be used to support HOPE LoanPort in its mission to address some of the hurdles borrowers face when seeking foreclosure alternatives.
