Florida Shows Positive Housing Gains in Q1 2014

Florida's housing market showed signs of improvement in the first quarter of 2014, notching gains in median prices, new listings, and inventory while homes spent fewer days on the market. According to the latest data released by Florida Realtors, completed sales of single-family homes totaled roughly 50,000 for the quarter, up 2.3 percent over the previous year's quarter.

Black Knight: Delinquency Rate Lowest Since October 2007

Delinquency and foreclosures rates have declined to levels not seen since October 2007 and 2008, respectively, according to Black Knight Financial Services "First Look" at March Mortgage Data. The company’s Data and Analytics division reported that the share of loans in foreclosure was down nearly 37 percent year-over-year.

Freddie Mac released its U.S. Economic and Housing Market Outlook for April, noting that the housing market continues to be "noisy," giving mixed signals heading into Spring. The government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) did offer some specific market projections for the upcoming buying season.

California Home Sales Jump Higher in March

The California Association of Realtors (CAR) reported 367,000 closed escrow sales of existing single-family detached homes, seasonally adjusted at an annualized rate. March marked the fifth straight month with sales below the 400,000 level, and the eighth month of declining sales on a year-over-year basis.

Low Inventory Pushes Home Sales Lower, Prices Higher

RE/MAX released its National Housing report for February, which showed that weather and a lack of inventory continued to push homes sales lower and prices higher. Home prices rose 11.6 percent compared to February, 2013. The median price for a home was $180,450, a 4.3 percent increase from the previous month, and continues a streak of 25 months of monthly price increases.

Midwest Reflects National Cold Weather Woes

Sales of residential homes in the seven-county metro of Chicago followed a pattern similar to January: rising prices, but the pace of sales slow when compared to the same month last year. February Gains Point to Seller Optimism

Realtor.com released its February Monthly Housing Trend Report, which showed an increase in listing prices as well as an increase of housing inventory. The increase in both list price as well as inventory points to a "strong early beginning to this spring's home buying season," the report said.
