A Maryland court has reversed a November decision that changed the licensing requirements for mortgages held by investors and statutory trusts. This week a Court of Appeals has addressed the case.

The California State Department of Real Estate (DRE), which is responsible for licensing and regulating activities of real estate brokers and salespersons, had to take action against more license holders compared to the previous year.

The Pennsylvania Department of Banking has launched an initiative to identify unlicensed mortgage activity in the state. The effort is being led by the department's Bureau of Compliance, Investigation, and Licensing and will target all mortgage licensees. The bureau says the investigation is expected to continue into 2011. The initiative is part of the department's implementation and enforcement of the federal SAFE Act.
