The Slavic Village Recovery, LLC (SVR) officially kicked off recently with a volunteer event. SVR--a partnership involving efforts from private companies, nonprofit stakeholders, and the public sector--seeks to restore the Slavic Village community that was devastated by the foreclosure crisis.

Crain's Cleveland Business recognized George Mehok, Safeguard Properties' Chief Information Officer, with the CIO of the Year award. Mehok received the award in the large private company category.

The two-day event featured Alfred Pollard, general counsel of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as the keynote speaker and included a special session on the industry's response to Hurricane Sandy.

Safeguard Properties announced Monday that as of the start of October, its Compliance Connections division has processed more than 10,000 code violations for the 2012 calendar year and has grown its roster of participating municipalities to 600. Both milestones represent an annual growth rate of over 300 percent.
