The FHA released two notices to mortgagees and servicers on Friday regarding new policies in effect. Safeguard Properties aslo posted the announcement on their website. The first reminder is on escrow funds/payoff statements and states that escrow funds should not be used for outside purposes.

Safeguard Properties was recognized at the annual American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE) conference in Nashville, Tennessee this month for providing scholarships that allowed eight code enforcement officials from across the country to attend the conference. This was the first time that a property preservation company or member of the mortgage industry has sponsored code enforcement officers to attend the conference.

Safeguard Properties announced the results of a diversity survey of its vendor network, showing that 33 percent of its contracted services in 2010 went to businesses owned by women, minorities, veterans and people with disabilities. Annual expenditures with these companies exceeded $153 million. Safeguard CEO Alan Jaffa made the announcement on Monday at the company's Eighth Annual Vendor Conference in Cleveland, attended by more than 1,500 vendors from across the country.

Scott Wilson has been named to the newly created position of VP of property preservation. Amitha Rao now serves as director of enterprise information management. Dennis Hoye has taken on the role of corporate controller, and Adam Szczesniak has been appointed director of infrastructure services.

Available nationally, the program is conducted via an online, on-demand Webinar platform, the first offered by a mortgage field services company. It provides an overview of best practices pertaining to property preservation and tools to assist code officials with day-to-day responsibilities of maintaining the integrity of properties in their communities.
