Ryan A. Sawyer handles contested foreclosure files as a member of Codilis & Associates, P.C.’s Contested Litigation Unit. He has been with the firm since October 2010. Prior to joining Codilis & Associates, Sawyer was an associate at a boutique commercial litigation firm in Chicago, Illinois. At that firm, he handled a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, including two appeals. Sawyer graduated magna cum laude from University of Illinois College of Law and was on the Deans’ List. While in law school, he participated in the Frederick Green Moot Court Competition, where he was recognized for having the best oral argument in the preliminary round of the Midwest Regional Moot Court Competition. Sawyer is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.

While there is generally a one- year statute of limitations for actions brought under the TILA, that statute of limitations may be extended indefinitely if the claim is brought as a counterclaim in recoupment or set-off to a debt collection action.
