Sabal Financial Group specializes in the acquisition, valuation, management, and servicing of commercial real estate (CRE) and acquisition, development and construction (ADC) loans, and mortgages.
[COLUMN_BREAK]The announcement of McKenzie's role at Sabal Financial comes on the heels of a corporate investment from Oaktree Investment Holdings, L.P., an affiliate of global investment manager Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., in which Oaktree acquired a non-controlling equity position in the company.
Sabal Financial Group says the investment capital is enabling the firm to expand its operating platform in response to an increase in asset valuation assignments and the growing market for the sale of performing and non-performing loan portfolios. Additionally, the firm is preparing to launch a commercial lending platform this year.
Sabal Financial says the addition of McKenzie to its team is integral to managing the company's projected growth. He brings to the firm more than 25 years of experience as a developer, principal investor, advisor, investment banker, and architect â€" experience encompassing more than $3.5 billion of property investments. Prior to his position with Sabal Financial Group, he co-founded Palisades Equity Partners, a real estate investment firm in Orange County, California.
He also served as president of Parker Properties, a Southern California-based developer of tenant-oriented campus environments. He has additionally held senior positions with such companies as Buchanan Street Partners, AEW Capital Management, Goldman Sachs, and JER Partners.
McKenzie is a LEED accredited professional and a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He is also an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine, Paul Merage School of Business.
